Major accident repairs

Bigger collisions need a workshop that can do the panels and the paint, then stand behind the result. That work is done here in Nerang.

A major accident repair is more than a scuff. A guard and a door. A rear bar, the boot and a light. A front end that took the hit at a roundabout. Hinterland Smash Repairs has been repairing that kind of damage on the Gold Coast since 2002, for insurance jobs and for owners paying privately.

What “major” means here

  • Several panels, not a single car-park kiss.
  • Bumpers, lights and the paint needed to blend the repair.
  • Cars that are still repairable, including insurance repairs where the insurer has accepted the repair.
  • A finish checked in the workshop before the keys go back.

Brought back into line

A bigger hit can push a rail, a door opening or a panel gap out of shape. The repair starts by seeing what still lines up: the gaps, the way a door closes, and whether a wheel sits where it should. Where the structure has to come back before the panels and the paint, that work is part of the job in this workshop. We will say if the damage is past a panel repair.

We will not tell you a car is a write-off. On an insurance claim, that decision sits with the insurer. If they authorise the repair, or if you are paying for it yourself, the panel and paint work is carried out at 52 Lawrence Drive.

How the job is quoted

Send wide photos of the whole damaged end of the car, then closer photos of each panel, light and wheel area. Tell us if the boot, bonnet or a door no longer closes, and whether airbags deployed. Those details change the quote more than a long description does.

If the claim is open, add the insurer and claim number on the quote form. Read the insurance repairs page if you still need to ask whether you can nominate this workshop. Smaller, single-panel damage is usually a minor accident repair.

Time and parts

A major repair takes as long as the damage and the parts allow. We would rather give you a date we can keep than a hopeful one. If a part is delayed, you hear it from the workshop. Paint is finished in the spray booth on site, and the workmanship carries a lifetime warranty.

Questions

Do you repair serious crash damage?

Yes. Major accident repairs cover bigger hits: multiple panels, bumpers, lights and the paint to put the car back together. If an insurer is involved, the insurer decides whether the car is a repair or a write-off. If it is a repair, that work is done at our Nerang workshop.

How long does a major repair take?

It depends on parts and how much of the car is damaged. We give you a realistic time when we quote, and we tell you if a part delays the job.

Can the repair go through my insurer?

Yes, when your policy lets you choose the repairer. Ask the insurer about nominating Hinterland Smash Repairs at 52 Lawrence Drive, Nerang, and send us the claim details with the photos.

Do you bring panels back into line?

Yes. Where a rail, a door opening or a panel gap has been pushed out of shape, bringing it back is part of the repair before the paint. If the insurer is involved, the insurer decides whether the car is a repair or a write-off. If it is a repair, the work is done at Lawrence Drive.
